2008, Highpoint Lowlife Records
Following on from his earlier self-titled web-release on Highpoint Lowlife, Stray Ghost's Losthilde album is a slow burning dense combination of doom-laden ambient noise and delicate beauty.
An album in four musical movements, the pieces move from the tranquil, progressing through ever noisier elements towards a crescendo of over-driven textural feedback and minute sound detail. It's an elaborate journey of catharsis and exorcism born in the loneliness springing from separation. The opening chords of “There’s an ocean between us, part one” were the first to be written and set the tone for the entire album, which was recorded in chronological order, and follows to some degree a fictional narrative which mirrored Ant/Stray Ghost's personal state of mind at the time.
