Recorded at the legendary Fillmore in 1966, the Charles Lloyd Quartet featuring pianist Keith Jarrett and drummer Jack DeJohnette was called 'the first psychedelic jazz group'. Predating Miles Davis' appearance at the Fillmore by several years, the band blends exploratory post-bop classic jazz themes with '60s rock influences. Four Charles Lloyd modal groovers, two Keith Jarrett standards, and a Beatles tune. Liner notes by Down Beat contributor Mitch Myers.
