2006, Rocket Girl
Recorded in Nottingham and London and features guest contributions from ISAN, THE WISDOM OF HARRY, ELLIS ISLAND SOUND, THE BITTER SPRINGS, BABY BIRKIN AND ICEBREAKER. There’s also a cover of seminal proto-samplists Disco Inferno’s 'Waking Up.' Since their misconception in 1996, Piano Magic have been dovetailing their own chapter in the avant pop Doomsday book, utilizing inspirations as diverse as maritime waltz, pre-technopop Kraftwerk, the animated fairytales of The Brothers Quay and Archway Library. From the outset, the band has employed a 'revolving door' membership policy - no two records or live shows featuring the same band members though Glen Johnson has been the one consistent conductor/songwriter/neurotic. Low Birth Weight, is an antique quilt of bad tooth cloud, Victorian heart surgery, back-street abortions, Czechoslovakian taxidermy and dusty letters from dead lovers. No animals were harmed in the design of the artwork.
