2011, Mad Greasy
Flufftronix (aka Michael Lasday) is a Chicago-born, Philadelphia-based DJ, producer and party starter who counts Lil Jon, Diplo and Alexander Wang amongst his fans. A master of contrasts, Fluff is adept at dispensing face-crushing soul-melters (quote Lil Jon on Fluff's dub plate Filthy Angels, "That shit just make you wanna punch the shit outta some motherfucker!"), sensual luvstep grooves and everything in between.
In 2009 Fluff created a bootleg remix of The xx's track "Infinity," and after being unable to contact the band or its representatives, made the track freely available via YouTube and flufftronix.com. Over half a million YouTube views later the remix caught the attention of Alexander Wang, who used the remix as the soundtrack to his Fall 2010 promotional video. Some 14 months after the song's public release, XL Recordings had it officially signed. "The xx – Infinity (Flufftronix Remix)" remains YouTube's most popular xx remix by a landslide.
Last year Fluff teamed up with Dirty South Joe to produce the Luvstep Mix for Mad Decent, a genre-defining and prejudice-shattering collection the sexiest, smoothest dubstep tracks which existed at the time. It was followed up that summer with a performance at the Mad Decent Block Party and now, Luvstep 2.
