2008, One Little Indian
VINYL FORMAT. Bjork's extraordinary new album, Medulla, is her seventh solo studio work, and first since 2001's Vespertine. Produced and arranged by Bjork (with co-production on four tracks by her frequent associate, Mark Bell), Medulla represents another landmark recording for one of modern music's most ingenious and inventive artists. The album sees Bjork exploring the rich potential and remarkable range of the human voice. Much of the collection features the inimitable singer performing over percussive beats created by some of today's masters of human beatboxing, including Japan's Dokaka, the UK's Shlomo, and former Roots member, Rahzel.
In addition to its unique voice-based backdrops, Medulla finds Bjork working with a stunningly eclectic variety of vocal collaborators, including Faith No More/Mr. Bungle frontman Mike Patton, Inuit throat singer Tagaq, classical singer/human trombonist Gregory Purnhagen (Philip Glass, Gavin Bryars), and two full choir groups: the Icelandic Choir and the London Choir. Among the collection's highlights is "Submarine," a powerful Bjork-penned duet with legendary art-rock singer/songwriter Robert Wyatt. As on all of Bjork's previous works, Medulla features programming by a range of imaginative electronic artists. Here she is joined by such diverse musicians as Jake Davies (U2, Madonna, Paul Oakenfold), Valgeir Sigurdsson (Mum), Olivier Alary (Ensemble), and San Francisco-based experimental duo, Matmos.
For all the audiophiles out there we are reissuing 38 classic OLI albums using the newest technology in vinyl manufacturing - Half Speed Direct Metal Mastering. The groove is cut directly in copper metal. Transient response is greatly improved. Stampers are plated directly from the DMM Copper Master, eliminating two of the three plating steps required for lacquers. In short, DMM yields better detail resolution and a lower noise ratio. This is especially good for long play albums, or audiophile material. All albums are remastered direct from the original master tapes and pressed on 45rpm heavy weight 200g virgin vinyl audiophile discs. Each release is strictly limited, housed in a plastic wallet and individually numbered. A chance to pick up classic One Little Indian albums in the most lavish vinyl format available.
