Andy Blade’s recent tracks have been arguably his best solo work he's done yet; Oliver Stone - a brilliant piece of Syd Barrett-esque pop. Shame & Mrs Kent are two more pieces of immediate foul-mouthed genius-pop eccentricity which explore auto-eroticsm and euthanasia respectively. Another track (not on this EP, but to be included on the forthcoming album) Fat DJ's annoyed Chris Moyles to the point of threatening legal action ... and now this Mi'amo Jihad - the worlds first Suicide bomber three-minute pop song. If you've read Andys book - you know that he knows his stuff when it comes to Islam. His literary work in progress deals with the subject too - but sampling what appears to be Abu Hamza giving one of his inspirational talks, is perhaps not the most wise move if you want a long and prosperous career making pop records. He gets his sweet, innocent kids, The Bladettes, to do backing vocals too! Is the man clearly insane? Is he just stirring up controvessy for the sake of it? I don't think so.

The song tells the story of a couple of Beavis and Butthead type fantasists, who dream of carrying out a suicide attack on a London hotel . One bottles it and tells his dad, who calls the cops, who are overjoyed at the prospect of yet another 'foiled' terrorist plot and good opportunity to dress up, arm up and smash up one more Asian inhabited property. According to Blade, the song’s intention is to take the piss out of the bombers, the police, the secret sevices and people who work in tele-sales - whatever, the result is a anthemic, in your face pop-onlslaught, and I suggest you download it asap before it gets banned.

Indie pop/rock/punk/ whatever is currently so dull, so tame, so scared of any kind of protest or career-damaging controvesy that it really does look like 2007 - 30 Years since Punk is the END of Punk as a causer of trouble. Blade seems to be the only one of the old guard that genuinely doesn't give a toss ... and at the same time can make smart pop records. I look forward to the album - or Blades Trial for incitment to get people to dance... whichever comes first .
