2006, Basement Front
The long awaited re-release of Midlake's 2001 EP Milkmaid Grand Army is now a reality. The seven-song EP was originally released independently exactly 5 years earlier in November of 2001. The initial pressing was a modest 1000 copies and, once the stock was depleted, the band decided to cease production, making the recording a rare collectors' item. That is, until now. With the release of Milkmaid Grand Army, Midlake reveals the beginning stages of a music career that has proven prosperous and continues to gain momentum. Midlake's latest album The Trials of Van Occupanther, released on Bella Union Records this past July, has already sold thousands of copies worldwide and promises further success. Midlake joined the Flaming Lips on several shows throughout this past Summer and Fall with enthusiastic reviews from both critics and fans alike. The new year will see Midlake embarking on their first ever American headlining tour that is sure to reveal the band's strong fan representation all over the country.
