ONoffON (CD)
The first new recordings in 22 years from avant-rock titans Mission of Burma. A work of staggering complexity, brimming with all the raw power of their '80s releases, while revealing tones, textures, and lyrical themes unimaginable the first time around. One of the most forward-thinking American bands, Burma have been covered by REM, Moby, Blur, and others, and helped shape the sounds of hardcore, indie rock, and emo. They're part of the Velvet Underground, MC5, Television, and Joy Division pantheon. "ONoffON" isn't just a hot new release -- it's a goddamn cultural event.

| I was there, yes a long-in-the-tooth punk rock boy running out to see X and Gang of Four - in the days gone by and there, always the powerful and wild "avant garde" (miller himself said) wonderful Mission of Burma. We coveted that band, we wished we were that creative, and we stole their riffs in our own less good bands...
this record is every bit as good as the old stuff - sounds like the old stuff... like long lost old stuff... it takes you back, and then forward again - on off on ... very appropriate!
