This is the debut full-length CD from this Australian, dark pop band. Battered Fish's sound fits somewhere between Joy Division and The Wedding Present. Singer Caleb James' voice has been compared to "a mix of Ian Curtis' drone and Bono's falsetto" (Rolling Stone Australia). Juice Magazine's David Messer says of Modern, "...the production and guitar work are both absolutely brilliant. With a bit of luck, these guys are definitely going to go places."
