Ten Rapid (CD)
NOW AT A SPECIAL SUPER-LOW PRICE! Re-release of the debut album from four young Glaswegians. "Ten Rapid" weds their angular/disciplined/hushed music with a tumultuous sense of release, and it's a stunner. One of those rare albums that introduced an utterly original sound, inspiring legions of imitators. Stephen Malkmus once called Mogwai "the best band of the twenty-first century."

| This album is good. I mean, beyond good. This is a compilation of singles, and Mogwai's singles are good. Mogwai are good. The album? starts off with "Summer," perhaps the most straightforward mogwai track yet, with a smooth bass line that builds until the fuzz comes is. But that is not the last you hear of fuzz. Mogwai, like Slint before them, model themselves on brooding, intense, and powerful music which builds to a crescendo and then cuts out. Mogwai are the only band who can crush you without a fuzz pedal, and I love it. Perhaps the best comparison to make is a single song. Mogwai sound like "Washer" by Slint. This is the best album. Mogwai are the best band. They will not let you down, and you will not be sorry. This is not a good album. It is the BEST album. Ever. You're kidding yourself if you think differently. | |

| this is one of my favorite albums of all time. the its the perfect transition record for thoes indie rockers who want to move onto something differnt than pop, rock, or space. it is the perfect introduction to spacy (mostly) instrumental but arent quiet ready to make that leap. mogwai is the temple of emotional music. i cant say enough good about them. i saw them back in 97 on thier 1st us tour, which was with pavement. i hadent heard of them before and i got free tickets to see pavement. mogwai opened. i watched mogwai in total amazement, and then stayed for pavement. after one song i left...nothing could compare to the emotion, energy and total thrill of mogwai. | |

| A pretty dope album that contains both bookends of the Mogwai sound. Half of it's ambient and soothing, the other half ripped the bass coils on my speaker due to extreme levels of what can be mistaken for nothing else but RAWK.
Worth picking up for the second 'Helicon' track alone. Although, if you're the kind of person that picks up albums just for one song -- you can send this album to me after you get sick of it because I lost mine. Kay cool bye. | |
