VINYL FORMAT. Motel Chronicles is the latest solo record by composer/guitarist Joel Pickard. It is an instrumental album predominantly based on the sound of the pedal steel guitar. Laconic and atmospheric, the narrative of Motel Chronicles is of movement and travel with an underlying feeling of country noir. The title Motel Chronicles is taken from a collection of short stories and essays by Sam Shepard, published in 1982. They are stories of travel, place, and America. These songs are a reflection of the memories Pickard associates with the book; as well as his feelings about travel, place, and America.
