Motel Motor Love Songs

This collection of rugged roots rock gems, which dropped independently last November but was picked up by local superhip indie Arts and Crafts (see Broken Social Scene), is a marvellously intimate feat of singer-songwriting craft on a par with Ron Sexsmith's best work. Toronto community-builder and sometime Broken Social Scenester Collett has culled the best tracks from a handful of earlier self-released discs, resulting in an album of top-drawer songs that rock quietly (as on the excellent Choke Cherry, with its sing-along chorus) and breathe small, perfect sentiments of love, with nary a dull spot in the lot.
