2001, Becalmed (UK)
limited to 500 copies! Jet Johnson is a London based quartet formed in 2000.
Mr Bones is their debut single. In the course of the last year, Jet Johnson has evolved into a low key unit playing the very beautiful music written by Caroline. These two heady woven songs encapsulate their sound.
The instrumental Mr Bones skips and giggles along a tightrope spun by playful guitars, supported all the way by a bouncy bass-line. A melody trapped in a dynamic loop, with just enough pauses to keep the pace and reach the final happy destination. The fragile Canada Song starts quietly, then the smooth drumming joins in and finally the vocals arrive, sung with a dream-like but resolute abandon. Each side of the 7" creates a different but complementary mood, resulting in ten minutes of soothing and vivid tones.
They have also played shows supporting Herman Dune, Barefoot Contessa and The Monsoon Basson but nothing too strenuous. This is because they all have other music on the go: Caroline plays in Lupe Velez, Gavin plays in Billy Mahonie and Glider, Ian plays in Econoline and Hywell plays in Billy Mahonie and the I-Ality Hi-Fi.
