Nettle
Nettle began in Barcelona as a collaboration between DJ/rupture and visual artist DD. The current New York lineup is Lindsay Cuff (violin, voice), Rupture (electronics, mudd), Brent Arnold (cello), and Bill Bowen (percussion). With backgrounds in North African folksong, experimental electronics, contemporary classical, and free improvisation, the band creates "heavily textured desert music", mixing the acoustic with the electronic. In late 2011, Nettle released their second album, El Resplandor: The Shining In Dubai, a soundtrack for a non-existent remake of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining set in a luxury hotel in Dubai.
