2010, HoZac Records
VINYL FORMAT. Tracks: "No Plans" b/w "Ice Age." Limited to 500 copies on black vinyl! 'Hailing from Chicago comes Heavy Times. These three guys have been out there recording music for awhile now, and their most recent release comes in the 7? vinyl format from the renowned HoZac Records label. As far as I know this is their first release being put out on vinyl, but I'm really not entirely sure. Other than this 7? the only other releases you could find from these guys would be in cassette format . . . So if you already know what these guys are all about, then you're probably dying to hear this 7?. If that's the case, let's check it out . . . Two brand new songs fill out both sides of this smoking 7?, and after you play this thing for the eighth time you're going to be begging for at least a third track. Right after starting the first track "No Plans," the good-feelin' vibes already start flowing as the jangly, bluesy, shuffled guitar licks repeat time after time, sealing up the fact that this stuff is beyond addicting. Lead singer Bo Hansen sings about having too much time in which to hang out, saying that he really doesn't care where you choose to hang, considering the ample time available. Maybe they should record another track with all that extra time!? Flip over to the B-side "Ice Age" for yet another minimally awesome song, again coming complete with shuffly guitar licks and lyrics about snow coming through the stereo. The last minute or so of the song is strictly a jam out, as they ride out the bluesy guitar riffs with some nice soloing to broaden the sound a bit more. When it's all said and done, the chances of you NOT wanting to spin this stuff again are highly unlikely. I'd put money on it.' - The Styrofoam Drone
