No Podemos Ser Amigos

Highly recommended! This record has 14 songs (ten are in English, three in Spanish, one is an instrumental). It was recorded by Frank Rudow (Viva lasVegas, Manta Ray) and features duets with Nacho Vegas (on “Canción con Idioma”) and Abel Hernández (on “Whiskey”). The album is straightforward and varied. It gets you hooked on the first listen, but still manages to offer new surprises every time you listen to it and enter its particular universe. The lyrics are sometimes ambiguous and speak of love, revenge, childhood memories, remorse, agonizing relationships and a handful of good girls and bad women. But the main motif behind “No podemos ser amigos” (which translates as “We can’t be friends”) could probably be defined by the search for redemption through sex, alcohol, and the endorphins our brain produces in the time between that first loving embrace and the first kiss of betrayal.
