VINYL FORMAT. Music is everywhere nowadays. You are bombarded with it. Has this seven inch anything new to offer? Yes.
These five letters make two songs, "A" and "BCDE" by "O Paon," recorded two summers ago at home in Anacortes, WA. The house was falling apart under giant evergreen trees and you can hear it in the recordings. These songs document summer days spent indoors, depression and instability. The instruments were half-broken. The harmonium and voice take over, making the atmosphere feel like a luxurious ink bath.
"A)" is a critique of our modern culture. "Who benefits from our talents?", "O PAON" wonders.
"B)C)D)E)" is the obstacle, the depression caused by this quest for meaning, when one questions themselves. What is art for?
"O PAON" is the most recent musical incarnation of the artist Genevieve Castree. The music is simple and repetitive at times, an artificial trance, a way to focus on a single small point and be hypnotized. The words are sung in French, but witnesses claim that the emotions are felt despite the language barrier.
