2003, Tumult Laboratories
HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED. A double-CD collection of home-recorded eclecticism from ubiquitous San Francisco scene-unto-himself, JOHN DWYER (COACHWHIPS, PINK AND BROWN, ZEIGENBOCK KOPF, DIG THAT BODY UP IT'S ALIVE). The first disc--34 Reasons Why Life Goes On Without You--is a collection of mostly solo acoustic guitar songs, delivered with Dwyer's unique skewed style, and fluffed with sonic intrusions, found sounds, buzzes, ambient sounds, distorted crooning, and messed-up cheap electronics. Disc two--18 Reasons To Love Your Hater To Death--is a noise romp that channels the spirits of Borbetomagus, Skullflower, Albert Ayler, and Throbbing Gristle into a shifting noisescape of harsh feedback, shimmering drones, sine waves, low-end rumbles, effected guitars, ambience, pulses, hiss, and gloom. Two hours in length.
