2007, Go Midnight
"Could we have the night canopy, please?" The Slaughterhouse-Five reference is sure to titillate some folks, but Night Canopy, a Seattle duo comprising Amy Blaschke and Nick DeWitt (of Pretty Girls Make Graves) is sexy in a completely unregulated manner. The project was originally intended to be Nick recording and producing Amys collection of songs at his studio on Bainbridge Island in the spring and summer of 2006. Then the whole thing went happily haywire, as Nick helped Amy develop her already delicate, well-wrought songs into expertly-cut musical gems, multifaceted and gleaming. Night Canopys formation has resulted in a captivating summer and fall of live local shows, where the two are joined by Jenny Jimenez, former member of the Catch, on backing vocals; a couple of short tours; and, of course, the raison d'etre: the full-length album Of Honey and Country on Go Midnight Records.
