Diehard is a Brooklyn four piece which shrinks its influences - mostly '90s alt and indie rock - into immediate pop songs that are in your face yet have a sincerity that's felt just a hair beyond the edge of your nose. The band had its humble beginnings in a cubicle. Songwriters Ezra Selove and Liz Schroeter sat across from each other at work where both played their iTunes just loud enough for the other to sometimes hear and say, "Are you listening to Archers of Loaf over there?" "Yeah." Both would nod approvingly. "We should start a band," they agreed. Before they knew what was happening they'd written a dozen songs together. They started trying to put a band together and soon were joined by Andrew Nystrom on bass, and Zephan Courtney, a session drummer for Rivers Cuomo and Julianna Hatfield.
Recorded in the summer of 2009 with Jim Bentley (Jemina Pearl, Jennifer O'Connor, Catfish Haven) at The Fort Brooklyn, the five songs on Oh So Premier are a fast-paced introduction to Diehard. Male/female vocal harmonies over fuzzy guitar and hooky melodies with lyrics about house parties that last too long, awkward lunches, dreams of Christopher Lloyd, and karaoke crowd surfing. Every copy of Oh So Premier is hand silkscreened and numbered by the band!
