2004, 17 Reasons
Six-song EP from former Creeper Lagoon frontman, Ian Sefchick. (Creeper Lagoon was a hot San Francisco band, with lots of promise, a major-label release, and the much-coveted Spin's "New Artist of the Year" in 1998. But all that hubbub led to inner-band troubles, and eventually, Ian left the band.) Like Creeper Lagoon at its best, On the Speakers makes the kind of pop that you can listen to and listen to and listen to. Great vocals (Ian sounds a bit like a mainstream version of Hamilton Leithauser from the Walkmen), guitar-driven anthems, catchy-as-hell choruses…it's classic indie pop at its most irresistible. "In person and on tape, On the Speakers, led by former Creeper Lagoon frontman Ian Sefchick, far exceeds drafts on the drawing board, with the soaring melodies in songs like "Sweet Dreams" providing the dynamic and drama rock fans crave." --LA TIMES
