2004, Hush
Another Kind of Like Spitting release! The best one yet!Portland, OR's Kind of Like Spitting has been continuously putting out great releases for the past several years. Their blend of emotions and distinct vocal style has put them on the map of the indie scene and in the homes of many loyal followers. "100 Dollar Room," their newest full-length, will have you tapping your toes and singing along after the first listen. Singer-songwriter Ben Barnett writes out his every emotion and places them into beautiful sad songs that will make you beg for more. His slit-your-wrist lyrics will touch you deeply, making you recall your own life and emotions. Kind of Like Spitting's past releases on American Dream, Hush, Slowdance, and Grand Theft Autumn have been compared to Low and Bright Eyes. But on "100 Dollar Room," the sound has more of a full rock band vibe, a la Weezer, Modest Mouse, and Built to Spill. Definitely a nice surprise for those familiar with their earlier work, and the best material ever for those still unfamiliar. Features guest vocals by Elizabeth Elmore from Sarge and includes a cover of "Little Time Bomb" by Billy Bragg.
