During the long and arduous meetings with the promotions arm of the Ace Fu Syndicate, the members of ONEIDA got into a heated pissing contest with their management and the suits from promo about the title of their new release. ONEIDA wanted to call the record "Friends" in testament to the epic three year process of therapy and recovery involved with the making of the beast. The creative process was truly the meeting of the weak minds, featuring hundreds of guest musicians, most of which ended up on the cutting room floor (dudes, there's a couple of intense jams/shouting sessions with THE CONSTANTINES buried somewhere in a stack of unlabelled tapes ONEIDA claims they'll get to it eventually). But to the point, this is a record of ideas, lots of them, coming from all over the ONEIDA spectrum which of course includes some so-called musicians who are definitely holding onto their day-jobs after this revelatory experience.

But as is the sad refrain in this ugly business of music, the suits held sway and demanded that we either name the EP Nice! Or Splittin' Peaches. ONEIDA, being difficult artists, struck a passive aggressive compromise and combined the names, hoping our petulance might instill an aggressive flavor to the tenor of the promotional strategy. I guess we shall see.
