Owen
Owen is Mike Kinsella. For almost a decade, Kinsella has been known for his important role in some of Chicago's most revered bands: Cap'n Jazz, Joan of Arc, Owls, and American Football. Mike Kinsella has been busy. In the last two years, he went from playing in AMERICAN FOOTBALL to writing and recording solo as OWEN, as well as touring on Rainer Maria and Kyle Fischer's last four tours. Owen has been a logical leap for Mike, as he was the singer/songwriter in American Football and spent years in bands such as Cap'n Jazz, Joan of Arc, and Owls. This album is a beautiful continuation of the work he did on last year's self-titled debut, which was met with much critical success, including a sl [ read more ]

Owen is Mike Kinsella. For nearly ten years now, Mike has been in some of Chicago's most loved bands, AMERICAN FOOTBALL, CAP'N JAZZ, JOAN OF ARC, and OWLS. Of those, he has probably been most closely associated with AMERICAN FOOTBALL, in which he did much of the songwriting and guitar-playing, and all of the singing. With Owen, Mike takes American Football's sound to its next logical level. Mike wrote and performed this entire record by himself: guitars, drums, bass, vocals, everything. It's got all of the [ read more ]

Chicago's Mike Kinsella (Cap'n Jazz, Joan Of Arc, American Football, Owls) is the sole creative output behind Owen. From an artist who has, in the past, recorded entire albums in his childhood bedroom berating lost love and personal missteps, it's a new chapter. The end result is this record, a new extension in the lineage of Owen's music. And being at home with oneself never sounded so freeing.
