Owls (CD)
After several years pursuing careers apart from one another, the original lineup of the revered CAP'N JAZZ have reunited to form Chicago's newest art-funk post-rock groove outfit, OWLS. Featuring Tim Kinsella (JOAN OF ARC), Mike Kinsella (JOAN OF ARC, AMERICAN FOOTBALL), Victor Villarreall (GHOSTS & VODKA), and Sam Zurick (JOAN OF ARC, GHOSTS & VODKA), Owls retain the obtuse structures of their previous bands while sonically stripping down to the basics of simple rock.
The eight-song debut album was recorded at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago, where the band was able to capture the best elements of its collective creators genius. Without a doubt, fans of their previous bands and newcomers alike will not be disappointed with the magic that these four have created with the mighty Owls.
