Known as one of the most well-respected and critically-acclaimed veteran Bay Area acts, The Hips formed in 1991 at Chico State in Northern California. The band has run the gamut of experiences as a band - from dorm band to buzz band to cult favorite. The Mother Hips released three albums on Rick Rubin's American Recordings circa 1995 - 97, and have followed with three acclaimed successful independent EP and LP releases.
