2008, Antenna Farm
Bart Davenport is a singer-songwriter troubadour who wears his passionate love of West Coast pop on his sleeve. His songs have captivated audiences worldwide for years, dating back to his time as a front man for Oakland garage/ blues combo The Loved Ones. On Palaces, his fourth solo album and third for Oakland indie Antenna Farm, Davenport collaborates with kindred spirit Kelley Stoltz to deliver a work befitting an artist who has assimilated the influences of a lifetime's worth of music-making. The album also features stellar contributions from some of the Bay Area's top musicians, including Stoltz, Angelina Moysov (Persephone's Bees), and Tony Sevener & Herve Salters (Honeycut). Drawing from Brit folk, bossa nova, and even a touch of Philly soul, Davenport's rich, nuanced vocals capture a cohesive fusion of traditional and indie pop, with lyrics that sparkle with plainspoken poetry and offer telling insights into the minds and hearts of his subjects.
