P.G. SIX is Pat Gubler, founding member of New York's enigmatic musical
collective Tower Recordings. In his various musical incarnations, Pat (P.G.
Six) has shared the stage with Robin Williamson (Incredible String Band), To
Live and Shave in L.A., Alan Licht, Tony Conrad, Tono Bungay, Bert Jansch,
the Shadow Ring and others.
Parlor Tricks and Porch Favorites is hybrid roots music. This record reflects P.G. Six¹s ongoing commitment to various traditional genres. Recorded in upstate New York over the past few years, this record reflects the pastoral sounds of late sixties and early seventies, British folk groups like Incredible String Band and the Fairport Convention, the rural American blues and Appalachian mountain music heard in John Fahey and Sandy Bull, as well as avant folk groups like the Godz, and contemporary experimental drone music.
