2010, Drastic Plastic
VINYL FORMAT. The Sex Pistols legendary June 1976 Manchester gig and the first performance of Magazine both inspired vocalist Alan Hempsall to form Crispy Ambulance in 1978. The band released their seminal and only full length LP, The Plateau Phase, in 1982 on Factory Benelux. This avant-garde sound is now considered an influence on post-punk, post-rock, gothic rock, and other atmospheric/melodic music with an artistic edge. Full of complex, yet minimalistic strings of music that surprise with intricacy and force, this release sounds as relevant today (if not more) than in the year of the its initial release. Faithfully reproduced aurally and visually, one can hear the influences of Brian Eno, Popol Vuh, and Joy Division pressing through Crispy Ambulance's strummings and croonings on this utterly original work. A truly haunting tour de force. Limited edition of 1,000 copies.
