Berg Sans Nipple are Shane Aspergen and Jerome Lorichon. We first got to know Jerome when he was the drummer in Purr, the fantastic Welsh trio; and Shane through bands on Nebraska's independent scene, such as Lullaby For The Working Class, Songs:Ohia, and TV City. Their partnership as Berg Sans Nipple began with an EP, "Marie-Madeleine," which was the soundtrack to a film Shane produced. On their LP debut "Form Of...," they brought together Luke Sutherland (from Long Fin Killie, the Bows, and Music A.M.), Mike Mogis (find him in any Nebraska-conceived/Saddle Creek project), and Ohad Benchetrit and Justin Small of Do Make Say Think. Their new EP, "Play the Immutable Truth," is a record that further demonstrates the unclassifiable essence of Berg Sans Nipple. "An Eternity of Purgatory" starts with pop whispers and then leads to syncopated drums and vibraphone echoes, while "Hark, The Poonie Angel Sings!" brings together floating trumpets with synthetic rhythms; "Swordfighting" is an intimidating superposition of dismembered melodies, while "Memory Hole," despite threatening to continue along the path of darkness, embraces the melodies of melancholic trumpets. An original, expressive, and eclectic piece.
