Psychedelicate

SLUMBER PARTY is an all-female dual-guitar combo in the tradition of the VELVET UNDERGROUND and TELEVISION. They play a kind of quiet, intense rock n' roll with an existential temperament. Aliccia Berg sings, plays a Fender Jazzmaster guitar, and writes most of the songs. Gretchen Gonzales trades licks with her on a Gibson SG with the amp controls set for sublime reverberation. The rhythm section of Marcie Bolen and Leigh Sabo, bass and drums respectively, plays simple, hypnotic grooves and counter melodies. When the haunting girl-group harmonies kick in, the effect is a classic sound.

Last year SLUMBER PARTY released a critically acclaimed debut LP and toured the States. Psychedelicate was recorded earlier this year at Jim Diamond's charming prison-like facility in Detroit, Ghetto Recorders (DIRT BOMBS, ANDRE WILLIAMS, BANTAM ROOSTER). Production duties were again handled by Matthew Smith (OUTRAGEOUS CHERRY, THE VOLEBEATS, THE GO). The tunes are sometimes meditative, hypnotic guitar excursions (""Sometimes"", ""I'm Not Sad""). At other times, they are as pure pop as anything by the BEACH BOYS or ABBA. Check out ""You've Gone Too Far"" and ""Everyone Else I Know"". ""Never Again"" is particularly dreamlike with LOU REED alpha waves in full effect. SLUMBER PARTY will take their mysterious, Psychedelicate sounds on the road this fall.
