Quad Cities

After five records with DIESELHED, frontman Virgil Shaw busts out with his first solo effort. Nine songs emphasize Shaw's plaintive vocals & sparse arrangements. Using a collection of oddball instruments for accents, including Chinese trumpet, a vibraphone and a saw, Shaw worked with a handpicked cast of local talent featuring Danny Heifetz (Dieselhed, Mr. Bungle), Palmer (Mommyheads), Freeman (Pell Mell) and Matt Hall. Road weary, hanging out in biker bars and building doll houses only to burn them down, the characters that inhabit Shaw's world are at turns are confused, frustrated or lost and the album functions almost as a soundtrack to a never made movie about people whose lives are lived miles away from the silver screen.
