Gotham (LP)
VINYL FORMAT. Radio 4 return with their sophomore album, "Gotham." While sticking with the melodic sensibility that made their debut, "New Song and Dance," a favorite among fans of anthemic post-punk, the band find themselves with a far more rhythmically aware record, ready-made for dance floors or basements. The band urges you to snap out of the '90s-boom-years-daze and realize that everything is not all right, all to the sound of loping bass lines, scratchy guitars and throbbing beats. After recording the basic tracks by themselves, Radio 4 hooked up with like-minded collaborators in the Death From Above production team of James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy (previous credits include Turing Machine, Zero/Zero, The Rapture, and Unkle). With help from DFA, Radio 4 have made a record akin to the work of Primal Scream, Joy Division, and Public Image Limited; a rock-dance hybrid with an agitated heart beating underneath.
