From obscure video game samples and sublime lyricism to outrageous video collage and graffiti artwork, Mixel Pixel's unique electro-folk style continues to push the envelope of popular music. At its core, their sound is electronic, punky, paranoid, and half-Japanese; an overall by-product of growing up in the 1980s. It is irreverently experimental, with its hot pink ghetto blasting beats, quirky guitar changes, folk interludes, and imagist lyrics. Yet behind all this exists a constant human presence, sad, defeated, at times elated, paranoid, intoxicated, pissed-off, horny, like any violently alive person struggling to find meaning in a pop culture wasteland.
