2003, Lookout!
VINYL FORMAT. Oakland CA's THE PATTERN deliver a rattle and shake all their own. Even if the world is currently preoccupied with just the kind of rock'n'roll-infused punk rock that the band is known for, they're still just a bunch of East Bay punk band veterans having done time in outfits like St JAMES INFIRMARY, NUSIANCE, THE CUTS, YAPHET KOTTO and THE PEECHEES. In April 2002 the band headed into San Francisco's Tiny Telephone Studios with veteran producer Alex Newport (ICARUS LINE, AT THE DRIVE-IN, THE MARS VOLTA) to record their debut album. Real Feelness is a fully realized statement of THE PATTERN's intent and mission. Over a bed of driving guitars, swirling bass and swinging drums, singer Christopher Appelgren delivers his skewed and slightly surreal view of the world. The band delivers a crashing, soulful version of rock'n'roll, without pretense or irony, informed by their love of punk, garage rock and stomping soul.
