Rebecca Pearcy
It's kind of a shame that Pacific Northwest staple Rebecca Pearcy is best known for her "Queenbee Creations"--vinyl wallets, purses, handbags made of 7" records--because her folk pop music is every bit as well constructed.
Orchestral string instruments boost her acoustic guitar and airy voice; a tinge of steel guitar turns a regular folk tune into a melancholy country ballad. Not lo-fi, not overproduced, her songs feel bare but not sparse, too aloof to seem confessional. File near Edith Frost.
