2010, RCA Music Group
VINYL FORMAT. Helmed by Mark Ronson and including the disparate talents of over thirty musicians and singers from both sides of the Atlantic, The Business Intl includes D'Angelo, Boy George, Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, Alex Greenwald, Nick Hodgson (Kaiser Chiefs), Ghostface, MNDR, the Dap Kings, Spank Rock, Andrew Wyatt (Miike Snow), Rose Eleanor Dougall, Wiley and MC Pill. Recorded primarily in Brooklyn, the album - titled Record Collection - features the tantalizing first single in the shape of "Bang Bang Bang," a 3AM Cote d'Azur disco beat featuring Q-Tip and MNDR that takes the French nursery rhyme "Alouette" and turns it into a Jean Michel Jarre meets NYC hip-pop sing-along. If ever there was a party anthem for a sticky hot summer, then this is it. Q-Tip is an icon of New York City hip hop, a world renowned rapper, DJ, producer and actor, shooting to fame in the 1980s as leader of A Tribe Called Quest. MNDR (aka Amanda Warner) is a startling new electronic pop recording artist and producer whose much buzzed about debut E.P.E came out in May, 2010. Unlike Ronson's previous album, 2007's much lauded Version, Record Collection consists entirely of original material, bringing together the songwriting skills of Nick Hodgson, Jonathan Pierce (The Drums), D'Angelo, Alex Greenwald and Cathy Dennis, to name just a few. As Ronson splits his time between London and New York the result is a transatlantic sound that incorporates his love of everything from hip-hop, disco, 80s pop to French electro and all points in between.
