Ricaine
Ricaine was a great rock and roll band from Melbourne, Australia in the mid-90s. Generally tagged as math-rock, they were inspired by fellow bass-heavy Aussies The Mark Of Cain (Adelaide) and the Americans Big Black .
The trio played its first show at the Evelyn Hotel, Fitzroy, on the 5th December 1994, followed by a debut release in early 1995 in way of split 7" with Baseball aka Cameron Potts.
After starting off with Steve Albini-style production, they quickly went beyond this to develop their own distinct sound that experimented with light & dark, tempo changes, jumping from bottom-end to high treble, and other cool stuff like that.
Ricaine played their final live show in 2001, later releasing a final (and posthumous) full length album Urbanity‚ through Unstable Ape records.
