2007, Rvng Intl
Until now, the music that immersed and infatuated Justine D in a cinematic life - relatable to some as fact and others as fiction - has never been documented. At least never like this. Rvng Prsnts Mx5: Justine D is a pretty damn intimate look at the listening habits of someone that's been there.
Where there? New York City's under and above ground nightlife of the past 15 years. While the world went grunge in the early 90s, New York stayed culture sick infecting Justine with more than teenlove for the monolith clubs she snuck into (Palladium, Limelight, Pyramid) and shows (My Bloody Valentine, Nitzer Ebb, Siouxsie). This was the New York City she was waiting for.
In following years Justine turned club patron to matron promoting ground shaking late 90s / early 00s parties at gone but not forgotten Manhattan institutes like Tiswas, Coney Island High, and Life. At these parties Justine turned a growing record collection into her first DJ sets. Justine's audience would only grow (and grow crazier) at longstanding DJ gigs at Making Time and, most notably, Motherfucker. With MF, she found her place as NYC's most celebrated and hard working promoter and DJ of the new club era.
