2004, Swami
One of the most artistically significant and visually subversive bands in the rock & roll universe. Having released the first independent punk record on the West Coast in 1976, they immediately set a precedent as one of the loosest, most raw, uncompromising, and confrontational bands of all time. Dubbing themselves "San Francisco's first and only rock & roll band" only added to an already bubbling alienation from the punk scene at that time. They were simply too wild to contain, too stylized to ignore, and musically too violent for the faint of heart. Fashioned in full SFPD regalia and armed with amphetamine-induced, crude-blues riffs, they created a scathing noise that remains unmatched to this day. Swami is proud to announce the release of "San Francisco's STILL Doomed," which is a reissue of their classic "San Francisco's Doomed" record, plus two unreleased bonus tracks (alternate takes of "Hot Wire My Heart" and "You're So Repulsive," both taken from the same session that produced their first single), never-before-seen photos, updated liner notes, and better mastering. "San Francisco's STILL Doomed" fills in the gaps even more and serves as an excellent place to start for the uninitiated and an essential installment for those who already regard Crime as one of the best rock & roll bands of all time. And for those who don't know, "Hot Wire My Heart" was covered by Sonic Youth on their Sister album.
