Saudade

There are two artists named Saudade.

1. Saudade is Christopher Cantino (CA) and Jason Gray (VT). The two met while employed at a psychiatric residential treatment facility and hospital. Their first record, "The Hooded Ones" was released early 2009 by Peasant Magik Records on cassette. The release of their second record, "Lookouts' Journal" on ARRCO establishes the duo as one of the most intelligent and progressive acts of the year with their fresh, sound-tracky take on pop ambient/haunt music.

Taken to the inner fire of the indigenous council you're sat before the willowy frame of an ancient shaman and offered a concoction of river water and vine extract. The fire's smoke consumes your surroundings and soon all time has shifted. Back to the manor of younger days, through a forest of pine and birch. A rainy spring, the shattered dock, the day of the drowning, all the comfort and fear of youth envelops you. A coyote appears in the driveway and whispers a song of beauty and suffering. Saudade's the soundtrack. Grow a pair music lovers!


2. Saudade is a one-man project that has been the creative outlet (or maybe it is better to say "therapeutic outlet") for Todd Durrant, the owner of the electronic pop label A Different Drum. Saudade blends the sounds of modern technology with a raw, unpolished approach that gives the music and lyrics more of an authentic, human touch as opposed to an over-produced and often superficial mainstream music market.
