VINYL FORMAT. Carlos Hernandez is the son of a '70s New York soul DJ. After a detour playing in punk and noise projects, he returned to his soul roots and formed Ava Luna, a band of three girls and three guys, to explore a sound that combines all those ideas.

Infinite Best is pleased to present Services / 3rd Avenue Island. A combination of their first two self-released works, it was recorded in a church basement on Coney Island, a sanctuary apart from, yet influenced by, the surrounding circus just above. These dozen songs make the listener swoon and strut, in that order. Hernandez weaves Spectoresque girl-group harmonies into funk, noise and pop influences for an aural headrush that travels directly from one's head to one's feet.
