Former Afghan Whig Greg Dulli and his Twilight Singers present She Loves You, an odyssey into love, longing, and the beauty of Björk, Nina Simone, Mary J. Blige, Billie Holiday, Marvin Gaye, Martina Topley-Bird, Fleetwood Mac, John Coltrane, Skip James, Hope Sandoval, and George Gershwin. Most of these interpretations were a part of the band's live shows, and the group's lusty intimacy with them is evident. Although these recordings were done very quickly -- virtually live in the studio -- they're as nuanced and deliberative as a piece of symphonic composition, played with the intuitiveness and fire of classic bebop.
