The son of a freedom fighter journalist/politician, Ahmed Gallab, at age six, fled with his family to the US from Sudan. Ahmed learned the ropes by playing drums with hardcore bands in smelly basements and by touring non-stop. His debut solo album is a hypnotic rhythm that ebbs and flows shoegaze, jazz, and psychedelic themes; an ethereal soundscape full of delay and drones contrasted by cascading dueling drum kits.
