Liars return in 2010 with their fifth studio album; their boldest and most exhilarating record to date. Sisterworld was written and recorded in Los Angeles by Liars and Tom Biller and is an invigorating summation of their career so far. Building on the back-to-basics approach employed by previous album, Liars (2007), Sisterworld is a dense art-pop thrill from start to finish. Sisterworld is Liars' own space, completely devoid of influence, somewhere remote from the false promises and discarded dreams amassed in LA. In it Liars explore the underground support systems created to deal with loss of self to society. According to Liars - Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross - "We're interested in the alternate spaces people create in order to maintain identity in a city like LA. Environments where outcasts and loners celebrate a skewered relationship to society."

Teree YountThis release progresses nicely after the last and previous Liars full-lengths. It's almost ethereal at times, yet rocks thoroughly hard just when you thought it was going to be cozy and warm. The deluxe packaging is exquisite. There are two large booklets and two compact discs. If you're not an old Liars fan, then do yourself a favor: start at the beginning, with the self-titled EP, and work your way to "Sisterworld."
