2011, Mute Records
Internationally renowned for his career with The Birthday Party and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Mick Harvey returns with his first full self-penned album, Sketches From the Book of the Dead. In 2007, Harvey started writing songs about the stories and memories he had of some people close to him that he had lost. Throughout 2009, more of Harvey's old friends and comrades checked out prematurely, and Harvey found himself thinking even more about what it all meant – about the relationships one still has with people after they're gone and how difference experiences bring back different memories and emotions. These thoughts translated into songs for what is now a fully focused project.
