2010, Dik Hayd Records
The idea for Slash (Deluxe Edition) came about from Slash himself as a way to take fans on a journey of the start-to-finish process of making his first solo album. Comprised of everything from the earliest demos conceptualizing his album all the way through to live video footage from the album release show, this Deluxe Edition features new content any fan would want to experience, including:
Two early demo tracks; five bonus songs including Slash and Koshi Inaba's recording of "Sahara"; an eighteen minute behind-the-scenes-in-studio video documentary of the making of Slash; a Slash one-on-one, track-by-track video interview taking you through each track on the album; the final video edit and the making-of-the-video for "By the Sword"; live video of "Back from Cali" from the Roxy secret show in April 2010; live video of "Starlight" and "Mean Bone" recorded at the launch of MTV Classic Australia in April 2010; three acoustic songs recorded Live at XFM in London in May 2010, including a cover of "Sweet Child O' Mine"; two songs recorded live during Slash's solo show at the Manchester Academy in July 2010, including "Watch This" and "Nightrain"; the "Beautiful Dangerous" (featuring Fergie) Radio Mix Version; a limited edition guitar pick designed by Ralph Steadman and Slash!
In what is his first true solo album, rock icon Slash presents his self-titled new album. The record features an all-star roster of guest musicians including Ian Astbury, Chris Cornell, Rocco DeLuca, Fergie (WTF SLASH), Dave Grohl, Myles Kennedy, Kid Rock, Lemmy Kilmeister, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Duff McKagan, M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, and Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother. A major undertaking for Slash, he enlisted services of producing partner Eric Valentine (Queens of Stone Age, The All-American Rejects) and compiled a rhythm section of bassist Chris Chaney (Jane's Addiction) and drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails). Slash handled the majority of arranging and songwriting duties and hand-picked each guest artist. The album's guests worked collaboratively with Slash to round out the song. "The idea was really simple in the beginning," said Slash. "These are all artists I wanted to work with - that I thought it would be amazing to do something creative and collaborative. And I was so impressed with what everyone brought to the table. They were all so committed to doing a good job. And we had a lot of fun making these songs."
