"You may not have heard of Holly Miranda yet. For the past few years, she has become something of a 'best kept secret' in the New York indie scene while fronting The Jealous Girlfriends...Sleep On Fire is a precursor to a full length album which should follow some time this year. That record is being produced by TV On The Radio and Yeah Yeah Yeahs producer Dave Sitek. This EP is a collection of home studio recordings that lead the listener to believe that something special may be in the offing.
Miranda displays a wonderful array of vocal harmonies throughout while the music is at times dense and full of adventure. 'Everytime I Go To Sleep' sets a very high standard as the opening song. It's one of those songs that keeps climbing and building. New sounds and instruments arrive unexpectedly but it all fits together. From a simple keyboard line with bass and distant drums, it finishes with guitar, strings, brass and layered vocals. Lyrics such as 'Everytime I go to sleep I kick and scream and dream a little bit' set the perfect mood. If Massive Attack are planning for guest vocalists for a future release, then Miranda has the voice that would fit perfectly with the 4AM sounds of the legendary trip hoppers." - Sun on the Sand
