2008, Bar/None Records
Green House 27's style of three-piece guitar pop is about as straightforward as things get, jangling along with acoustic and electric guitars and topping each chord progression with a tight, focused melody. This formula approaches loveliness at certain points on Smashed -- at others, it's simply plain and uneventful pop. Results vary from track to track, largely based on the band's songwriting -- when things work, Smashed is a solid and worthwhile bit of early '90s guitar-pop, but the album falters into plainness often enough to keep it from seeming very important. ~ Nitsuh Abebe, All Music Guide
