This record beautifully pulls together the sound of the band's three prior efforts, fusing dark synth, psych and proto punk with elements of an eastern vibe. It sounds like raw material that Nam June Paik would run through a mix of broken CRT equipment and fried transformers. The album breaks repeatedly from pop boppers into dystopic soundscapes replete with bleak auto-erotic frequencies reminiscent of J.G. Ballard's Crash. It sounds like a high-speed joy ride rolling up to a 3-car pile-up at 80 miles an hour. It feels like the Nothing People are on that ride, understanding that our civilization is in decline, headed east into the hills wanting to escape it all, the buzz and the Hollywood madness.
